Mohawk/Erie Canal Cruise
 |
The Mohawk/Erie
Canal Cruise
sponsored by the
Foundation was a
huge success
according to the
passengers as they
departed at the
close of the
adventure. There
were two cruises
that left Blains Bay
Mariana on two
Sunday mornings in
July when the
weather was
spectacularly
perfect and the
river serene.
|
As the cruises headed west
approached the twin
bridges of the
Northway the
excitement and
pleasure began to
heighten. The beauty
of the wet lands on
shore and the
wildlife splashing
and romping brought
you close to a rare
encounter with
nature and its
marvels. Inside the
cavern we could feel
its immensity as we
were about to be
lifted approximately
27 feet to the water
level above.
Everyone enjoyed
their comfortable
ring side seat as
the water started to
boil in from the
bottom to give us
our lift. The gates
open and we are on
our way up river
past the riverside
marines, under the
bridges and now
approaching the Glen
Saunders Mansion and
a wonderful Sunday
gourmet brunch.
We tied up at the Mansion’s dock and climbed the steps inside to a
superb splendor of
decor, food and
hospitality. After a
Sunday brunch with
an array and variety
of unimaginable,
delectable foods, we
descend to our
waiting cruise
pontoon.
