“There’s No Place Like Home”

APEF Gala 2010

Every year the APEF pays tribute to outstanding community members.  This year's honorees were Paul and Barbara Glasser. They were honored for their tireless service to the community and the school district.

Also recognized were the Beverage Mart of Wynantskill (Billy and Legislator Leon Fiacco), Habana Cigar Shoppe (Scott Bendett), Route Fore Golf (Spyder Wilson) and Burden Lake Country Club (Tommy and Ron Choquette), again for a generous contribution from The Greenbush Open honoring Dr. Frank Devane.

Special guests at this year's gala included County Executive Kathleen Jimino, Rensselaer County Chair, Martin Reid, Superintendant Dr. Jo Moccia, several principals, vice principals and administrators, and School Board members Peter Schaefer, Pam Tater and Jessica Zweig.

Quality performances by The Select Chorus, Chamber Orchestra, Off Broadway Players (The Wizard of Oz – in less than 10 minutes) and The Jazz Ensemble were memorable and uplifting.   Wonderful displays again included art work from schools in the district, robots from the Robotics Program (new) along with a video highlighting the Albany Symphony Program. Quality is never an accident. It is always the result of intelligent effort.  The Foundation is thankful for all the efforts of the administration, faculty and staff in helping to make this night such a success.   Special thanks to The Bill Dexter Quartet and our long time Mistress of Ceremonies Bridget Ball Shaw. The Silent and Live Auction were outstanding this year due to the support of our business community.
