 2011 Annual Greenbush Open a huge success!

The Burden Lake Golf Club held its Annual Golf Tournament  on July 25, 2011 in honor of Dr. Frank Devane  and benefiting the  Averill Park Education Foundation .  Over 140 golfers, hole sponsors and dedicated tournament sponsors made this the most successful open yet!

APEF 2010 GALA 

The APEF Annual Gala was held on Friday, November 19, 2010 at the Franklin Terrace.  Both the live and silent auctions made this event a tremendous success.  foundation.  Proceeds from the event will be used to fund many worthy causes throughout the Averill Park School District.  To read more and see more pictures from the Gala, click here.

APEF Grant Supplies Laptops

In July 2010 a donation was made for an APEF grant to purchase a 22 laptop mobile computer station to be used by the AMS students and the Robotics Program.  We would like to thank the Ann Cetrino Trust Fund and family for this very generous contribution to our school community.


2nd Annual Greenbush Open at Burden Lake
     The 2nd Annual Greenbush Open was held on July l7th at the Burden Lake Country Club was created in the memory of Frank "Doc" Devane and was a huge success!  We had 136 players and over $6,000 in prizes and raised over $5,000 this year for the Foundation.  Click here to read more.
        
Mohawk/Erie Canal Cruise

    The Mohawk/Erie Canal Cruise sponsored by the Foundation was a huge success according to the passengers as they departed at the close of the adventure. There were two cruises that left Blains Bay Mariana on two Sunday mornings in July when the weather was spectacularly perfect and the river serene.  To read more, click here.


Memorial Day Parade
    
For the past five years, the APEF and families have been marching in the Town of Sand Lake's Memorial Day Parade, joined by students from the APHS drama department and sports teams to show community support for our veterans.  At this year's parade, the New York State champions of APHS's Girls Varsity Basketball team marched with the APEF's contingent, handing out flags and spreading good will while being cheered on by parade watchers.  After the ceremonies, the Girl's team had a photo opportunity with the local veterans.

Robotics Club a Success!
The 2009-2010 Averill Park Algonquin Middle School Robotics Club was a huge success during its first year.  The Robotics Club is a part of Averill Park's expanded drive to promote a hands-on environment in which students can learn technological, mathematical and scientific skills.  It was founded with a grant from the APEF.  Click here to read more.
 
Albany Symphony Orchestra Program  "Adopt A School"
      Currently completing the 8th year, this outstanding program for the Averill Park School District 3rd and 4th Graders brings professional musicians for multiple visits to the students and introduces them to the exciting world of classical music and concludes with attending an ASO concert in the spring.  Click here to view some of the letters and cards written by the elementary students thanking the ASO for visiting.

2009 Annual Gala and Fundraiser Event

     Our 4th annual fundraiser gala was held on November 13, 2009 at the Franklin Terrace and was the best ever! The Averill Park Education Foundation honored Martha Bove and Stephen Beebie and we had a fun time with a 70's theme.  We featured artwork from all grade levels, enjoyed performances by the APHS Jazz Ensemble, the APHS Chamber Orchestra and the APHS Off Broadway Players.  There were silent and live auctions and dinner and dancing to The True Tones.  A great evening for all attending!  Click on a picture below to view it full sized.
